For The Days That Feel Heavy
A gentle reminder that difficult emotions don't need to be rushed, only cared for.

Feel all the feelings. Let them rush in
like waves, then allow yourself to
float as you process them.

A Slower Perspective
Bad mental health days can either be a constant, or they might sneak up on you when you least expect it. It’s best to have a toolkit ready or a rough idea of how to navigate them, especially when everything else in life doesn’t plan on slowing down. Whether you’re experiencing a bout of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) or daily stressors have just built up, we hope this week’s newsletter gives you additional tools to add to your kit and helps you feel a bit more prepared. Consider reading the following story about Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) if you want tips on how to ride the wave:
What’s Worth Consuming
Article: “How 6 Therapists Manage Bad Mental Health Days” provides thoughtful advice on how to handle “off” days from practicing therapists.
Music: ‘Hard Truths’ by UMI and 6lack is the song to put on when you need a reminder of what really matters. Is it capitalism, materialism, shallow or toxic connections, and a traditional life? Or is it a core sense of self, healthy relationships, evolving, and living an authentic life?
Soundscape: Sometimes, the remedy to a cloudy mind is a cleansing soundscape. We love this grounding beach campfire scene and these comforting rain sounds. For times when you’re really feeling heavy, this emotional detox sound meditation may help restore your center.

A Thoughtful Ritual for This Week
Try crafting in honor of this week’s topic of taking care of yourself during bad mental health days. Whether baking, crocheting, coloring, painting, or molding polymer clay, do something that will engage your senses and get out of your head.
Tiny Shifts to Consider
Turn your brain off: go cloud gazing.
Open your blinds after waking up; let the light in.
Update your vision board. Assess what’s changed (and why).
Create a ‘happy’ playlist on YouTube or Spotify to turn to when you feel your mental health starting to suffer.
A Prompt for Your Sunday Reset
As we enter this next week, we hope you feel empowered to feel things as they come. If it’s too hard a task for you, try journaling or asking yourself:
What’s triggering me? What do I need right now? How can I reorient myself? How can I ground myself in this moment? How can I be compassionate to myself? Do I need more support than what I’m currently receiving? How can I ask for more support?
